Did you know? We have Onsen (hot springs) in the US!

As someone who moved from Japan to California over a decade ago, I really miss those heavenly onsen getaways. There’s nothing quite like spending an hour or two soaking in a natural hot spring to achieve ultimate relaxation. Lucky for me, I found some sweet hot spring resorts near Southern California where I can dedicate a whole weekend to rejuvenation and relaxation, and feel refreshed for weeks or even months after! And the best part? These hot springs are perfect for weekend trips or even one-day getaways.

1) Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort & Spa in San Luis Obispo, California

If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend getaway less than 3 hours from Los Angeles, look no further than Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort. Whether you’re traveling with family, your significant other, or even solo, this resort is the perfect destination for a rejuvenating escape.

One of the highlights of this resort is the hot mineral water, which is known for its therapeutic benefits. However, first-timers should be aware that the water may have a slight sulfur smell. But don’t worry, if you prefer to avoid the smell, opt for an outdoor tub instead.

At Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort, you’ll find different types of hot springs to suit your needs. For those seeking privacy, the outdoor tubs for small groups are fenced off. Meanwhile, larger groups can enjoy a pool with a waterfall. You can book an outside tub for an hour, or if you’re looking for a longer stay, relax in the indoor tubs available in guest rooms and suites all weekend long.

2) River Oaks Hot Springs Spa in Paso Robles, California

Another great hot spring destination can be found in the wine country of Paso Robles, which is just a 3.5 hour drive away from Los Angeles. This makes it the perfect place to unwind and relax by soaking in mineral water while also enjoying some winery-hopping.

One of the must-visit hot springs in Paso Robles is River Oaks, a day spa featuring mineral hot springs. Here, you can soak in their outdoor or indoor private tubs for 1-2 hours. The outdoor tubs offer stunning views of the wine country, but if you prefer to stay indoors, you can still enjoy the luxurious experience without missing out.

The tubs at River Oaks are incredibly spacious – so much so that you may feel like you could swim in them! The water is already warm but not too hot, allowing you to relax for a longer period of time. While the water may have a slight smell of sulfur, it’s not too strong and shouldn’t detract from your experience.

Before and after your hot springs soak, make sure to visit some of the surrounding wineries for some wine tasting. It’s the perfect way to round out a relaxing day in Paso Robles.

It’s important tokeep in mind that soaking in hot water can also leave your skin feeling dehydrated and dry. To combat this, make sure to bring water with you and hydrate your skin with b.glen’s Qusome Lotion after your bath.

Applying a generous amount of Qusome Lotion to your skin right after your bath can help to restore moisture and leave your skin feeling supple and rejuvenated, and provide long-lasting hydration.

So, next time you’re soaking in a hot spring, make sure to bring along some water and a bottle of Qusome Lotion to keep your skin looking and feeling its best. Your skin will thank you for the extra hydration and nourishment!
